On November 16, 2007 the VFW and Mr. Nick Munizza held a ceremony for the Dormont police officers and Paramedics from Medical Rescue Team South Authority (MRTSA) in recognition and great appreciation of those that saved his life.  He presented a plaque and with teary eyes said, “I thank you, you guys are great”.  VFW member and Dormont Police officer Jim Burke said, “we are thankful he is still here with us and its testament to the training of our officers and medics.”  Since the incident the VFW has purchased an AED (automated external defibrillator) that will hang on the wall behind the bar.
