The search and rescue team was created in 1998 as an individual k-9 unit. It has grown to include multiple k-9’s and field team members. All members demonstrate the same professionalism that the public has been accustomed to throughout the years. The search team will assist other agencies with search of missing individuals. The team is on call 24 hours a day-7 days a week, regardless of weather conditions. Team members must maintain their own equipment, which includes k-9’s. Donations and grants have helped fund the teams activities and functions over the years. K-9’s are certified to National Association Work Dog Association (NAPWDA) standards. The team also educates the public on canine safety, lost child prevention and stranger danger. For these programs, lectures and public demonstrations contact Supervisor Steve Kiray at MRTSA . |
