Dr. Allen S. Schattner EMS Education Scholarships
Seven Allegheny County EMTs Receive Funds
Pittsburgh, PA. January 17, 2007 Dr. Allen S. Schattner was an Emergency Physician who, in the 1970’s, pioneered the development of a Paramedic program for the training of volunteer fire departments and police in Pittsburgh. In his honor, the Allegheny County EMS Council established a scholarship to fund EMTs who wish to pursue a career as a Paramedic through a local EMT/Paramedic program. This year’s, Dr. Allen S. Schattner Scholarship recipients are: Blake Toki and Michael Dziki of Baldwin EMS; Kelly Cindrich and Keith Sylvester of Elizabeth Township Area EMS; Richard Weisner and Aaron Taylor of Medical Rescue Team South Authority; and Jennifer Kajut of Eureka EMS. The awardees were recognized at the Allegheny County EMS Council meeting on January 17, 2007.
