Critical Incident Response Team

South Hills Area Council of Governments

The Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) responds to critical police incidents throughout the SHACOG communities. The CIRT Team trains a minimum of 16 hours per month on a variety of subjects including breaching, firearms, less lethal deployment, hostage situations, officer rescue, and other critical scenarios. The tactical medical team (TEMS) is led by MRTSA Paramedic: D.J. Taylor.

Hazmat Medical Response Team

Allegheny County Emergency Services

The Hazardous Material Medical Response Team is responsible for providing specialized medical support for Hazardous Materials Teams and victims of hazardous materials exposure. In addition, the team can provide specialized medical support to any Allegheny County or Region 13 based response team during sustained operations. The team is made up of Physicians, Nurse Anesthetists, PHRNs, Paramedics, EMT’s & Hazmat Technicians. Specialized Medical Command is provided in the warm and hot zone facilitating RIT, lifesaving medical interventions, all hazards medical support and rehab support/ consultation. Additional capabilities include, advanced airway management, RSI and surgical airway. Large quantities of hazardous material and WMD antidotes.

MRTSA currently has 6 staff members on the team.

Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team

The Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) Team plays a pivotal role in aiding public safety personnel with psychological support in the event of an unforeseen and challenging circumstance. MRTSA Paramedic Josh Stuart is a member of the team.

Technical Rescue Team

South Hills Area Council of Governments

The Technical Rescue Team is part of the SHACOG Fire Chief Committee. Made up of personnel from the 22 fire departments and 6 EMS agencies in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. The team is presently made up of 35 members trained to handle high angle, trench, confined space, frame building collapse and shore based water rescue situations.
