Transport to the Closest Facility

As a 911 provider in Pittsburgh there are various hospitals and hospital systems we transport to daily. Medical Rescue Team South Authority does its best to abide by the patient’s wishes for transport destination. Transport to a preferred facility is not always possible for various reasons including, but not limited to weather, 911 system status, and facility diversion.

Our providers may transport to a different facility due to the needs of a patient and facility capabilities. Various hospitals are credentialled at different levels in specialty areas such as stroke care, burn care, trauma care etc. Our providers are versed in the capabilities of the hospitals we service. MRTSA is legally obligated to bring a patient to the closest appropriate facility with exceptions laid out by the Pennsylvania EMS Protocols.

Transport destination remains at the discretion of the lead provider and patient / family / referring provider preference will be considered.

MRTSA transports only to an emergency department and does not facilitate in patient transfers or direct admission under normal circumstances.

Ability to transport to a specific destination depends on a variety of variables and is subject to change.
